Summit Summit III

Morning Proceedings: Returning to help facilitate our meeting was Sierra Business Council’s CEO Steve Frisch. Steve opened the meeting by introducing both of our County Supervisors, then followed with a review of recent DSA accomplishments.

A “Land Stewardship Panel” discussion focused on Donner Summit land steward management initiatives and stewardship priorities. Panelists included: Jonathan Cook-Fisher-US Forest Service; John Svahn- Truckee Donner Land Trust; Andy Fisher-Placer County; Katelynn Hopkins -Placer County; Tricia Tillotson -Nevada County Dir. Community Development Agency; and Nevada County Supervisor Hardy Bullock.

A “Peak Visitation” discussion explored the role DSA’s new Recreation Plan will play in meeting peak visitation challenges, and Colleen Dalton, CEO of Visit Tahoe-Truckee, and Jeffrey Thorsby, Sr. Admin. Analyst, Nevada County Board of Supervisors, discussed current initiatives: “Sustainable Truckee”, the CCC Roundtable, STORC, and the Truckee Stewardship Council.

Alecia Weisman of SYRCL presented an update of the “Van Norden Meadow Restoration & Recreation Project”.

Steve Frisch then took questions from participants and helped us explore next steps. Donner Summit residents and supporters were asked to help make the Plan’s vision a reality.
