Cannabis Dispensary
Cannabis Dispensary
Nevada County authorized selection of one cannabis dispensary in either the Soda Springs rural area or the North San Juan rural area during 2026. A second dispensary may be selected during 2027 in the area not selected during 2026. Questions have been raised about how this decision was reached and what the next steps will be. A community meeting was organized by DSA and attended by about 30 people in person and another 10 via Zoom on May 21, 2026. A second meeting is scheduled for July 2, hosted by Nevada County. The Board of Supervisors will consider approving selection criteria at their meeting in Truckee on July 14.
This set of web pages summarizes some of the information available as of mid-June 2026; it will be updated as new information becomes available. DSA has taken no position on whether there should be a cannabis dispensary.
